Privacy Policy

Effective September 9, 2026

This policy applies to the FingerBeat iOS app published by Oktoid ("we", "us"). It explains what information the app handles, what is shared with third parties, and the choices you have.

FingerBeat is a privacy respecting music-making app.

Your recordings, songs and projects stay on your device.
We never receive your audio, your name or your contact details. The only data that leaves the app is anonymous crash and usage reporting, described below.

Information stored on your device

Everything you create in FingerBeat is stored locally on your iPhone or iPad:

  • Sounds you record with the microphone

  • Songs, patterns, notes and projects you build

  • Songs you import from your music library

  • App settings and preferences

We have no access to any of this content. It is not uploaded to our servers, and we do not operate any account system, so you never need to sign in or give us your name or email.

Microphone

FingerBeat asks for microphone access only when you choose to record a sound or your voice. Recording happens entirely on your device. Audio is never transmitted to us or to anyone else unless you deliberately export or share it. You can withdraw microphone access at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Microphone.

Music library

If you import a song, FingerBeat asks for read access to your Apple Music library so you can pick a track. The app only reads the tracks you select. It does not modify your library, and no information about your library is sent to us.

Sharing and exporting

You can export your work by email, AirDrop, the Files app, AudioCopy, or any other app that accepts audio. When you do, the content goes directly from your device to the destination you pick. Those services are governed by their own privacy policies. We only record an anonymous event noting that a share feature was used, never the content that was shared.

Crash reports and usage analytics

To keep the app stable and understand which features matter, FingerBeat uses two services from Google's Firebase platform:

  • Firebase Crashlytics sends a report when the app crashes. A report contains the device model, iOS version, app version, free memory and disk space, the time of the crash, a technical stack trace, and a random installation identifier.

  • Firebase Analytics records anonymous events such as opening the app or using a share or export feature, along with the device model, iOS version, app version, language, approximate country derived from your IP address, and the same random installation identifier.

These reports contain no names, email addresses, audio, or project content. The installation identifier is created by the app, is not linked to your Apple ID, and is reset if you delete and reinstall the app. FingerBeat does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA) and does not track you across other apps or websites.

The data is processed by Google on our behalf. You can read how Google handles it at firebase.google.com/support/privacy and policies.google.com/privacy. Crash data is kept for a limited time and then deleted automatically.

Purchases

FingerBeat is free. Any in-app purchase or subscription made in an earlier version of the app was processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. Apple's handling of purchase data is described in Apple's privacy policy.

Advertising

FingerBeat contains no advertising and no advertising SDKs.

Selling or sharing data

We do not sell, rent, or trade any information about you. The anonymous diagnostic data described above is shared only with Google as our service provider, and only for the purposes stated here.

Children

FingerBeat is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app collects no personal information from anyone.

Your choices

  • Deny or revoke microphone and music library access at any time in iOS Settings. The rest of the app keeps working.

  • Delete the app to remove all locally stored content and reset the installation identifier.

  • Contact us at the address below if you would like the diagnostic data associated with your installation removed.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update this page and the effective date at the top. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
